Queen Elizabeth's Mental Institute
I bet anyone anything that they've never heard of this abandoned asylum which lies between banstead and chipstead, off the B2219, not too far from Cane Hill. I also bet that if they snooped around a bit they'd still be none the wiser, despite the abundance of info on abandoned asylums all over the web. We have no idea why this is so, so if anyone knows anything, please get in touch. There are some very interesting things about the place apart from it's non-existence on the public-access government records; it is almost untouched bar some local scallywags, a basically invisible security force, and one room with some very meaningful graffiti. (this graffiti will be detailed in the future as we are pants at internet and cannot upload/scan/be bothered to have all the photos and footage here.) But, this lack of interference has left the place with quite a few documents, some with names, numbers and addresses, others detailing the inner-workings of the institute and even some confidential patient files. | We have managed to do the top and middle floors of most of the buildings and some of the ground floor in the main residents building. The ground floor and basements are for the most part totally pitch black due to the very efficient boarding skilld of Royle Security (cheers guys.) |
| There is a ward called the Garton Ward, which we thought was a kids ward for children with leraning difficulties or antisocial behaviour problems, but we found in a 35yr old lady's file that she stayed in the Garton ward. You will find out when we post all the photos why we thought it was a kids |
| If anyone does know anything, and it turns out we're just a bunch of suspicious bastards, please tell us why the place closed down and why there are no obvious records of it. | |
